It’s a big commitment for parents to go to school. There are kids to raise, bills to pay, things to do. Spending all day studying is a big commitment and one that most single parents just are not willing to make — or can’t make. But going to school as a parent can be a life changing experience. Should you commit to going to school, you are going to have to find a way to pay for it. This is the greatest hurdle you face if you are a single parent — you don’t have enough money to pay for your education and you are going to have to find ways to get that money. You will likely have to take out some sort of student loan, but you should also look at getting a scholarship.

With recent cuts in the educational budget, it’s now harder than ever to get a scholarship, so you will need to do everything possible to ensure you actually get the funding you need to pay for college. Here are a few tips for getting a single mother scholarship. There are no guarantees that you can get a scholarship, but following these tips will significantly increase your chances of being able to get one.

1. Make sure to look at every scholarship source possible.

This means combining the web for government scholarships, college scholarships, and private scholarships. The more scholarships you turn up, the more opportunities you will have of getting the funding you need, so spend a significant time online looking around and leave no stone unturned!

2. Fill out your scholarship application correctly

When you do actually start to apply for scholarships, you will want to make sure your application is correctly filled out. You don’t want to apply for a scholarship with missing or incorrect information - you will get your applications quickly rejected. You may also be asked to pride supplemental information as well.

3. Mass send out your scholarships

The most important thing you should know about applying for a scholarship is to send out as many scholarship applications as you possible can - the more applications you send out, the higher your chances of getting free scholarships for single mother funding. Getting a scholarship is a numbers game and you want to have all those numbers on your side.

Be aware that there are many scholarship scams out there. If ANY site asks you for money, it’s likely a scam. Scholarships are always free and should never cost you any money to apply — so make sure you only seek legitimatize scholarship.
